an eyeball burning day..
44 degrees today, and it sure felt like it too. Even Doris, who is looking even wider than normal these days, was feeling the heat, and hoofed my hat into the pool in disgust.
On the upside, the roses are looking heavenly, and in perfect time for the wedding next Sunday. Even Doris can't keep ontop of the roses!!Gail, our resident turkey, has become so broody, but with no male turkey in the vicinity, she had taken to sitting on unfertilised eggs. We decided to swap the eggs for some fertilised ones that we managed to get hold of, and she sat on them. Low and behold, the clever little thing has hatched 5 chicks which she adores and she has really come into her own. A born mother!........However, the one small flaw in an otherwise perfectly executed plan, is that the fertilised eggs we swapped were actually chicken eggs NOT turkey eggs. So she is clucking over 5 chicks which bear no resemblance whatsoever to her!! hahahah.......only at VF ;)

Magical Marrakech May Wedding
Just recovering from a magical wedding weekend, with some lovely guests and a truly delightful couple! It has made it all the more wonderful for us, as the couple are returning guests, and were some of the first guests we had through Villas Fawakay's gates, when we first opened a few years ago! So touching that they decided to come back and get married with us here. it made it all the more special for us that they had it at the villas.
We were certainly lucky with the weather, and as a result the gardens looked great (all the roses were out) and for once, Doris the donkey had not totally obliterated the grass!
Escort cards hanging from the olive tree outside the entrance to the tent with each table having the name of one of the couple's favourite restaurants.
Each table had a personalized 'luggage label' tied to it with contrasting fuschia ribbon. The colour scheme was bright and contrasting, so a real feast for the eyes with roses in Moroccan tea pots of all different colours, and 400 tea lights in lanterns and teaglasses around the tent and pool.
Flip flops for those weary feet after dinner....ready to hit the dancefloor!

Return from the Mogul Empire......
Returned from a glorious, harrowing, awe-inspiring and terrifying 3weeks in India, driving an auto-rickshaw 3815km from the south (Kochi, Kerala) to Shillong in the northeast for charity.
180 hours of driving covered in 10 days, with only a partial broken finger to show for it. Not bad really, all considered!

Fantastic food, as to be expected, from the dry curries in the south to more Chinese-inspired food further north. Even the truck stops produced amazing stuff, a far cry from any Welcome Break!

So, it's back to reality and WORK.........and the workshop beckons. Getting ready for a wedding on Saturday here at the villas and the marquee is being erected as I type!
